Jonathan Stening is a New Zealand website designer and developer who specialises in the development of WordPress websites using HTML5, CSS3 and valid & semantic coding practices. I’m learning to point a camera too.

Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Commerce double major in Computer Science and Information Systems from the University of Canterbury, and the NZ Diploma of Business and Diploma of Information Systems from the College of Education. He currently resides in New Zealand USA Canada Ireland Argentina Australia.

While Jonathan has a educational background in Software Engineering and Business Computing, his real passion is working with the web. He finds building websites allows him to tap into his more creative design side, while also satisflying his more structured programming background. Jonathan taught himself the ‘ins and outs’ of designing and coding for the web a number of years ago; following tutorials, reading whatever he stumbled upon and basically learning through trial and error.

Over the past 13 years Jonathan has worked both as an employee in businesses and for himself as a freelancer, and produced a large number of valid & semantic websites over this time, for a variety of clients around the world.

How does it work?

NB. The following paragraph may look foreign to some, but to others it may woo or perhaps impress.

Basically, it works like this… Jonathan uses a handful of technical jibber jabber (HTML5, CSS3, jQuery and PHP & ASP scripting languages), a pinch of skill, some balance and a dash of experience to make yummy websites.

I have an excellent coding standard, my markup is thoroughly tested for cross-browser compatibility and meets W3C standards. I also have exposure to SEO principles and best practices, follow and incorporate modern interface design trends, hand-code all front and back-end development and have great communication skills. I am comfortable collaborating with others and have a real passion for the web.
